Amalgam Collection is world renowned for creating exquisite, limited-edition models of iconic classics, luxury road cars and the leading Formula 1 cars. Out of sight, behind that visible core activity, Amalgam serves its commercial partners, creating extraordinary design and display models and special editions for gifting to VICs. Following in the footsteps of the successful F1 Special Auction held in October, Amalgam have again been invited by leading online auction marketplace for special objects Catawiki, to create a collection, this time bringing to light and offering up examples of those special projects that have lain dormant in the Amalgam archives, many of which have never been offered for sale before.

The only maker of model cars that can be considered alongside a maker of fine watches like Richard Mille, Amalgam have developed close partnerships with the world’s most important designers, engineers, drivers and manufacturer brands, not only delivering editions of models for their own internal use, but supplying development models, one-offs and displays of every kind. Amalgam have long been creating show cars and concepts since the company’s conception as a model car manufacturer over twenty-five years ago, having initially approached the Jordan and Williams Formula 1 teams before partnering with Scuderia Ferrari. Over this time the artisans have developed an indispensable and deep understanding of automotive design and technology, recognised by the leading brands in the luxury world.

Models in the auction cover a wide range of scales, styles and functionalities: the McLaren Ultimate Vision GT at 1:8 scale was a result of a collaboration between Amalgam, McLaren and Sony; the Princess 88 Motor Yacht at 1:50 scale was fashioned for Princess Yachts to display at the 2019 Limassol Boat Show in Cyprus; whilst a 1:12 scale model of the Figoni and Fallaschi coach built Talbot Lago was created for one of the legendary Louis Vuitton Christmas window displays over a decade ago.

“Each of the models offered in this auction represents Amalgam’s long-standing relationships with the largest names in the luxury and automotive worlds. Many of these models are our hidden treasures – they have never been on the market before and we are excited to exhibit them publicly for the first time. We anticipate a lot of interest from collectors seeking only the rarest items.” – Sandy Copeman, Brand Director and Founder of Amalgam

Laura Brianza, Catawiki’s Model Cars expert says: “Following the success of last year’s model car auction on Catawiki – which celebrated iconic moments in F1’s history – we are thrilled to be working with Amalgam again.  For this auction they’ve taken a deep dive into their impressive back catalogue – offering up some real exclusive gems for our passionate users.”
