Some limited-edition performance cars commemorate a name. Others tell a story. The Gunther Werks Brundle Edition Turbo belongs firmly in the second category: a collaboration that brings together the competitive experience of Martin Brundle, the design perspective of his daughter Charlie Brundle and the California specialist’s uncompromising approach to the air-cooled 911.

Only five examples will be produced. That rarity is notable, but the car’s real distinction is the unusually personal way its details connect a father’s life in international motorsport with a daughter’s career in automotive design.

A family story written in color

Charlie Brundle, whose design background includes McLaren Automotive, Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, developed the edition’s visual identity around a two-tone pearl finish inspired by Martin’s familiar racing helmet. Applied by hand, the livery is more than a graphic treatment: it provides a visual thread running from the exterior into the cabin, where additional references reward closer inspection. The interior carries the same theme through tailored upholstery, an embossed MB monogram on the headrests and a seat-bolster detail recalling the colors of Grand Prix cars Brundle drove. His helmet insignia and hand-signed dashboard end plates make the connection explicit. One especially characterful inscription on the dashboard reads: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.”

An analog proposition with extraordinary output

Beneath the tailored presentation sits the Gunther Werks Turbo platform, powered by an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six producing a manufacturer-stated 860 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission puts the driver at the center of the experience—an increasingly unusual choice at this level of performance.

The engineering brief extends well beyond horsepower. Bespoke double-wishbone suspension, trackoriented chassis development, an adjustable high-downforce rear wing and front canards are joined by an upgraded Brembo CCMR braking system with forged billet calipers. Dedicated Sport and Track calibrations were refined with Martin Brundle’s input, according to Gunther Werks.

It is a combination intended to preserve the immediacy and involvement of an analog sports car while expanding the performance envelope far beyond that of its original inspiration. No independent performance testing or driving impressions of the Brundle Edition have yet been presented here; the figures and dynamic claims are those supplied by the manufacturer.

The details make the edition

Exterior distinctions include smoked front LED indicators, smoked rear lighting, one-off forged magnesium wheels etched with Brundle branding, signature rear-deck lettering and edition-specific door sills. A bespoke key completes the specification. Each of the five cars will also be accompanied by a Bell HP77 Formula 1-homologated helmet in matching livery, personally signed by Martin Brundle.

For a driver whose career spans Formula 1 and victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the helmet is a particularly apt finishing touch. It links the machine to the equipment, rituals and identity of the racing world from which the project draws its inspiration.

Beyond a signature edition

Martin Brundle describes the appeal of Gunther Werks as the ability to combine extreme race-car performance with a level of civility and usability. In this collaboration, that engineering philosophy becomes the foundation for something more intimate: a car that joins his experience in the cockpit with Charlie’s eye for form, materials and storytelling.

Gunther Werks founder and CEO Peter Nam positions the project as a celebration of motorsport and family, realized through purposeful design and engineering. The Brundle Edition Turbo is scheduled to make its public debut at Concours at Wynn Las Vegas.

The most compelling bespoke cars are not simply more powerful or more exclusive. They offer a reason for every choice. With its helmet-inspired livery, carefully embedded racing references and formidable manual-transmission mechanical package, the Brundle Edition Turbo makes that case with unusual clarity. Five owners will receive the finished cars; the larger story belongs to two generations of the Brundle family.
