Mecum Dallas 2023 Collector Car Auction Reaches $46 Million in Total Overall Sales

75% Sell-Through Rate Achieved with More Than 1,400 Vehicles on Offer

More than 1,400 cars, trucks, motorcycles and other collector-worthy vehicles were offered on the Mecum auction block this past weekend in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, and a total of 75% of them hammered sold for an overall total of $46 million. The strong results qualify the event as Mecum’s second highest-grossing Dallas auction to date.

2005 Ford GT (S120.1) sold at $374,000

Top sales at the auction included an exceptionally varied assortment of vehicles from foreign to domestic and from vintage to modern. The top 10 sellers were bookended by a pair of Shelbys; a 1965 GT350 Fastback (Lot S117) that sold for more than a half-million dollars came in as the auction leader, and a 1968 GT500 Convertible (Lot F92.1) tied for ninth at $220,000. A pair of Porsches also landed seats among the top-selling auction lots with a 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (Lot S122.1) bringing $401,500 and a 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (Lot S137) bringing $280,500. A Ford couplet and a trio of Corvettes continued the pattern of pairings, with the selections led by a 2005 Ford GT (Lot S120.1) that sold for $374,000 and a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible (Lot S155.1) that achieved $346,500.

The aforementioned 2018 Porsche and Ford GT were part of the highly anticipated Allen Collection, an assemblage that ultimately saw six of its vehicles hammer sold for a total of $1.19 million. Another private collection highlight was the six-truck Mile High Collection, a group that achieved a perfect sell-through rate with an aggregate sale total of $440,950.

  2. 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (Lot S122.1) at $401,500
  3. 2005 Ford GT (Lot S120.1) at $374,000
  4. 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible (Lot S155.1) at $346,500
  5. 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (Lot T133) at $330,000
  6. 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe (Lot S111) at $286,000
  7. 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (Lot S137) at $280,500
  8. 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe (Lot S116.1) at $247,500
  9. 1968 Shelby GT500 Convertible (Lot F92.1) at $220,000
  10. 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 (Lot S96) at $220,000
