The Petersen Automotive Museum, in conjunction with Tesla, is hosting a special exhibition featuring the new Tesla Roadster prototype from May 19 through June 2, 2021. The vehicle will be displayed on the museum’s second floor alongside the original 2006 Tesla Roadster prototype.
“The addition of the Tesla Roadster prototype is an astonishing reminder of how far Tesla has come as an electric vehicle powerhouse,” said Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Guests will be able to see and compare the new Roadster to the original and experience the decade-long progression of the brand.”
According to Tesla, the production vehicle will boast record-setting acceleration, range and performance. The company claims that it will be capable of reaching speeds of more than 250 mph, accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds and travel 620 miles on a full charge of its fully electric battery.
Guests who would like to view the Tesla Roadster prototype and visit the museum must purchase tickets in advance on the Petersen Automotive Museum website. Health and safety guidelines are being followed: face coverings are required (single-use face masks will be provided to those who do not have one); social distancing guidelines of at least six feet will be enforced with designated entrance and exit signs; hand sanitizing stations are available on each floor; and the museum has increased the frequency of routine cleaning.
