Record-Setting $55.2 Million at Mecum Dallas 2022

50% Increase Over Previous Dallas Auction Record and 84% Sell-Through Achieved

Mecum’s Dallas 2022 classic and collector car auction lent credence to the claim that everything is bigger in Texas with a record-setting total achieved at the 12th annual event in one of the Lone Star State’s most populous cities. A total of 1,191 vehicles hammered sold in just four days, Sept. 7-10, for an 84% sell-through rate and more than $55.2 million in sales, which amounted to a 50% increase over the auction’s previous record total of $36.8 million. The number of consignments increased by 45% over last year’s Dallas event, and ticket sales saw a 60% increase.

Top-selling vehicles in Dallas were led by a trio of Ford GTs, including a highly coveted 2006 Heritage Edition (Lot F85.1) with just one owner and 420 miles that sold for $704,000, a 2005 (Lot S102) with 2,945 miles that brought $467,500 and a 2006 model (Lot F88) with 513 miles that reached $434,500. The ’06 GT was offered from the auction-headlining Mile High Collection, which achieved total overall sales of more than $3.5 million as 100% of its 26 vehicles hammered sold.

Desirable Mopars also landed among the top 10 list with a rare, one-of-503 1969 Dodge Daytona (Lot S148) that achieved a final sale price of $418,000 nabbing the fourth spot and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (Lot S187) with 13,900 miles landing seat five with $324,500. From the prewar era was a 1935 Packard 1204 Victoria Custom Convertible (Lot S111) that sold for $319,000, which was followed by a 1993 Ferrari 512TR (Lot S141.1) that brought $312,400 and a 2012 McLaren MP4-12C Gemballa GT (Lot S134.1) that demanded a final sale price of $308,000.

More than 10 private collections were offered in Dallas with the headlining, no-reserve Butler Estate offering reaching a grand total of more than $8.43 million in all and multiple other collection offerings achieving aggregate seven-figure totals as well.
