Mecum Houston Collector Car Auction Returns to NRG Center April 4-6

Mecum Auctions, host of The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction®, will return to NRG Center this April 4-6 for Mecum Houston 2024, with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, Hot Rods, customs and more to be offered throughout the three-day auction event.

Among highlighted offerings is the Plendl Brothers Bowtie Classics collection, which encompasses a selection of almost exclusively Chevrolet-built sedans, trucks, SUVs and El Caminos, all dressed in deep shades of black and all offered at no reserve. A highly original 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with its original black exterior and original gray cloth interior shows just 275 miles on its 5.0L HO V-8 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible shows just 578 miles on its fuel-injected 5.7L/345 HP V-8 engine. Other low-mileage examples in the collection include a 1985 Chevrolet C10 Pickup that was in its original owner’s care until 2004 and shows 148 miles, and a 1987 Chevrolet El Camino showing 85 miles on its odometer and boasting highly original condition with the original spark plugs (included in the sale) the only items replaced.

1933 Packard Eight Coupe Roadster from the Bob Cather Classics Collection

A 1933 Packard Eight Coupe Roadster that is one of 1,800 Packard Model 1001 examples produced and a 1983 Duesenberg II Royalton Dual Cowl Phaeton that is one of 71 produced from 1977 to 2011 are among the headlining consignments from the Bob Cather Classics Collection of eight lots offered at no reserve. Other vehicles from the collection include a trio of Lincolns: a 1942 Lincoln Continental Coupe that is one of 200 Lincoln Continental Coupes produced for the 1942 model year, a 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible with a maroon exterior over a tan interior, and a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII Custom with a 4.6L 32-valve V-8 engine and automatic transmission.

The Horton Classic Car Museum Memorabilia Collection of more than 150 items offered all at no reserve once lined the walls, floor and ceiling of a well-known classic car museum. The vast and eclectic selection of neon, plastic and porcelain signs, gas pumps, gas pump globes and other items are headlined by a 1964 Texas Double-Sided Porcelain Sign (Lot Z324), a 1920s Texas Sky Chief Fry Mae Model 117 Visible Gas Pump (Lot Z263) and 1909 Cretors Model C Popcorn Wagon (Lot Z265).

The USCG Master Chief Steve Petersen Gas Pump Collection includes approximately 30 gas pumps that were restored by Petersen along with various “project pumps” and essential parts used in their restorations. Among the restored examples are a 1930 White Rose Wayne Model 615 Visible Gas Pump (Lot Z363), a 1927-1930 Magnolia Gasoline Tokheim Model 610 Visible Gas Pump (Lot Z365), an Indian Gas Tokheim Model 39 Gas Pump (Lot Z350) and a Bennett 1500 Previsible Gas Pump (Lot Z334).

Bidder registration options start at $100 and can be completed online and on-site at the auction. Doors open daily at 8 a.m. with the vehicle auction beginning at 10 a.m. and Road Art items to begin at 9 a.m.
