The presentation of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA on 2 March attracted tremendous interest among car enthusiasts. In the 110th year of Alfa Romeo, the brand is combining its illustrious heritage with typically Italian style, performance, design and “know-how” to offer Giulia GTA customers a completely customised experience.
For the 500 lucky owners, Alfa Romeo is making the Giulia GTA not just simply a car to buy but an experience to be had. It has developed a series of ad hoc modifications and customisations to the exterior and interior of the car so each customer can have the GTA of their dreams, built around them and able to meet their every aesthetic need.
History and creativity available to the customer
For the new GTA, the team at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo have reinterpreted the evocative liveries that have been associated with the successful racing history of the GTA. Customers can request one of these liveries for their car, as well as selecting the side number and a Goodwool car cover to match.
While developing the liveries, Centro Stile Alfa Romeo drew on the brand’s diverse history. It took inspiration from some of the GTA’s most prestigious victories, including the yellow nose that distinguished the 1971 European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) winning car, the asymmetrical nose from the 1965-1968 Sprint GTA and the symmetrical nose of the GTA 1300 Junior.
The choice of painted nose arose from the need to distinguish the drivers in the same race from each other. The historic white “mask” has been reinterpreted and, combined with the lateral stripes, it immediately evokes the Alfa Romeo racing heritage. The bonnet incorporates elements of the Alfa Romeo logo such as the cross, the Biscione and the Italian flag.
Some of the most representative and evocative liveries include those in ochre and white and red and yellow. The ochre recalls the 1750 GTAm in which Toine Hezemans won the ETCC in 1970, while the Biscione on the bonnet and lines on its sides are a nod to the GTA 1300 Junior. The longitudinal stripes, meanwhile, were the aesthetic quirks of individual drivers.
In addition to the Centro Stile liveries (limited availability), the Giulia GTA and GTAm will be available in a choice of GTA Red, Trophy White and Montreal Green, a range of colours that pay tribute to the Italian flag. Customers can also choose from a selection of colours for the brake calipers, roll bar, seat belts and stitching.
A dedicated online configurator is now available, allowing customers to view the various possible combinations on the Giulia GTA and GTAm, gta.alfaromeo.com.
The value of a unique customer experience
The same exclusivity found in the Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm will also be found in the customer experience, with a dedicated product specialist following each order through to delivery. The purchase also includes a Bell helmet in special GTA livery, a tailor-made Goodwool car cover and a driving course at the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy. The GTAm will also come with full Alpinestars racing apparel including race suit, gloves and shoes.
Customers can also request to collect their GTA or GTAm from one of the brand’s most iconic locations, the Autodelta workshop in Balocco, Italy.
Best-in-class weight-to-power ratio to retrace the steps of history
The new Giulia GTA is inspired by the Giulia GTA of 1965, the “Gran Turismo Allegerita” developed by Autodelta based on the Giulia Sprint GT that racked up sporting successes worldwide. Based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio, it is fitted with a more powerful version of the Alfa Romeo 2.9-litre V6 Bi-Turbo engine with 540hp. With its extensive use of ultra-light materials, it benefits from a weight reduction of 100kg compared to the standard Giulia Quadrifoglio, achieving a best-in-class weight/power ratio of 2.82kg/hp. Its appearance, inside and out, expresses the concept of the historic car, while reflecting the DNA of the brand with its technical excellence combined with driving pleasure.
