There are hypercar launches, and then there are moments that feel like the closing of a chapter. The Rimac Nevera R Founder’s Edition belongs to the latter. Limited to just 10 examples and first announced privately during Monterey Car Week 2025, it arrives not simply as another rare specification, but as a tribute to the machine that changed everything for Mate Rimac and the company that bears his name.

In a newly released film, Rimac looks back on the Nevera as the kind of project that should never have worked on paper: a broken BMW, a garage, a young team, a country with no established automotive industry, and almost no money. Yet from Concept_One to Nevera to Nevera R, that early ambition has grown into a company of more than 2,000 people, with a campus in Zagreb that brings everything from hand-stitched interiors to high-volume battery production under one roof.

That journey is exactly what the Founder’s Edition is meant to honor. Rimac conceived the series as a celebration of the Nevera itself, but also of the loyal customers who helped build the brand’s momentum. Each of the 10 cars begins with a deeply personal configuration session at the Rimac Campus, where owners work directly with Mate Rimac, Design Director Frank Heyl, and the design team using V-RED visualization software to create a fully bespoke specification.

No two cars need look alike, but the baseline treatment is already dramatic. Rimac describes a striking two-tone design paired with an ultra-thin central roof stripe that narrows to just two millimeters at its finest point. The detailing folds in the brand’s cravat motif along with subtle circuit-board graphics, while bespoke embroidery inside can reference pivotal dates in the company’s history. It is the sort of storytelling through design that gives the Founder’s Edition its identity beyond sheer rarity.

The appeal, however, extends beyond color, trim, and craftsmanship. Founder’s Edition ownership opens the door to a far more direct relationship with Rimac itself. The ten Founder’s Club members receive priority access to product previews, invitations to performance showcases and record-breaking runs, access to Bugatti Rimac headquarters, and the opportunity to engage with leadership and research efforts that will shape future projects. Specialist driver training is included as well, delivered by the very team that has logged tens of thousands of miles developing the Nevera and Nevera R. Mate Rimac personally oversees the delivery of all ten cars.

That matters because the Nevera R is no ceremonial finale. It is the definitive evolution of the platform. Power comes from four individual electric motors producing 2,107 hp, governed by Rimac’s next-generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring system. The result is a 0–60 mph time of just 1.66 seconds and a top speed of 431.45 km/h (268.2 mph). In 2025 alone, the Nevera R set 24 verified performance world records, while aerodynamic revisions delivered 15 percent more downforce than the standard Nevera. New Michelin Cup 2 tires also reduce understeer by 10 percent and increase lateral grip by 5 percent.

The Founder’s Edition stands at the summit of the 40-unit Nevera R production run, but its significance is larger than exclusivity. The first example was handed over at The I.C.E. St. Moritz in January 2026, a fittingly dramatic setting for a car built around both performance and story. More importantly, the Founder’s Edition serves as the final punctuation mark on the Nevera narrative — proof that one of the boldest ideas in modern performance motoring not only made it to production, but changed the conversation around the hypercar in the process.
