Goodwood is thrilled to announce that the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport will host an exhilarating on-track demonstration to celebrate the Canadian-American Challenge Cup.
Set to be the loudest and most breathtaking demonstration ever held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, the celebration will host the greatest collection of Can-Am racing cars from 1966 to 1974. In the spotlight will be some of Can-Am’s most iconic vehicles from the likes of the McLaren, Shadow and Porsche – three of the most successful marques in Can-Am’s brief but spectacular history.
Earning the nickname ‘unlimited’, the Can-Am Cup paved the way for innovation as some of the most powerful sports cars from the 1960s and ‘70s went head-to-head in a race with little to no restrictions on engine capacities. The racing series was joined by some of the world’s most renowned drivers, including Bruce McLaren – who took pole position in 1967 and 1969 – Denny Hulme, Sir Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti and Mark Donohue, who in 1973 raced the Porsche 917/30.
Welcoming a fleet of up to 25 iconic Can-Am speedsters, the demonstration will take place across the weekend and sit alongside the full race schedule yet to be announced for the 81st Members’ Meeting.
Tickets for the 81st Members’ Meeting are available to Goodwood Road Racing Club Members and Fellows here. Further information about joining the Fellowship, including the host of benefits on offer, is available here.
