Mecum’s exceptional success with its annual Spring Classic collector car auction held each May in Indianapolis inspired the company to introduce a fall-season iteration to further meet customer demand and fan enthusiasm. This first Indy Fall Special auction achieved a total of $19.5 million in total overall sales as 567 vehicles hammered sold in just three days, Oct. 5-7.
Top sales at the auction were led by a 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback (Lot S99) that sold for $275,000, followed by other American all-stars like a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible (Lot S89) that brought $214,500, a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Custom (Lot S196) that sold for $176,000 and a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am (Lot S108) that achieved $162,250.
A handful of private collections were offered for sale at the Fall Special auction, with the all-Ford Burbach Collection reaching an aggregate $2.07 million in sales and the 15-car Joel Hipp Collection selling in its entirety and bringing $1.09 million overall.
