Masters of fine art and automobiles alike, Bonhams international auction house showed their prowess during the Quail Lodge Auction. Under the tent, automotive specialists Micheal Caimano and Rupert Banner showcased masterpieces from McLaren, Ferrari and Maserati, each truly special and spectacular examples of automotive art. Through their extensive knowledge, our guides brought the exhibited cars to life. The one-owner McLaren F1 was easily the highlight, even amongst the most meticulously maintained, historically significant cars present. The car sold for a record-breaking $15.62 million, yet breaking records isn’t abnormal for the fastest naturally-aspirated car on Earth. While the F1 certainly stole the show, there were many other gems to be seen. Classic Mercedes-Benz cars, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Jaguars and even a few Shelby Cobras drew captivating looks from onlookers on the lawn. The Speed Journal would like to thank Bonhams and their specialists for making their knowledge and hospitality available to us. Without them, the show could not go on.
