Munich is BMW’s head base of operations. The administrative building’s unmistakable architecture granted it with the nickname the “four-cylinder building.” Residing nearby, the “double cone” Welt, “the bowl” BMW museum and BMW plant are all equally imposing against the German skyline. While the Welt is predominantly an exhibition of current BMW efforts, it also partially dedicated to the brands BMW has added to its family, Mini and Rolls-Royce. Particularly interesting is the wing dedicated to the Rolls-Royce models.

Acquired in July of 1998, the brand was finally handed over to BMW from Volkswagen at the start of 2003. Since then, we have seen the brand boldly move into the future with new models advancing the technology of sumptuous design and dynamic comfort while modernizing classic Rolls-Royce visual cues. BMW has evolved the bespoke nature of Rolls-Royce as well, with the exhibit showing off the multitude of options for leather, woodgrains, headliner and paint options. Even an incredible brushed aluminum hood is available on certain models. The beautifully smooth V-12 powertrain on display as well, a key point of the driving comfort offered by BMW’s Rolls-Royce.

With a power delivery that glides a car even as heavy as the Phantom effortlessly, the direct-injection V-12 is an engineering powerhouse. Shown nearby is perhaps one of the most iconic Rolls-Royce models ever built, the Phantom Drophead. Amazing hand-stitched leather and woodwork compliment the elegant exterior of the model on display. Doubtlessly, BMW’s guidance over the brand will continue to produce beautiful and prestigious cars.
