Wheeler Dealers stars will show two cars that are 100 years apart in age and technology at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery. TV stalwart Mike Brewer will be bringing his recently recommissioned 1917 Ford Model T to the show, while his new co-host and mechanic Ant Anstead will showcase his 2017 electric powered GT sports car.

Mike first encountered the Ford Model T in Oregon where he was attracted by the fact that it was a ‘two-owner running car with an original patina’. “The moment I saw it, I smiled. It’s just that type of car. But its too beautiful to be an ornament. It needs to be on the road where it belongs.”

His aim was to have it made more driver friendly for daily use with new tyres, a battery conversion, and re-spoked wheels. The T has been worked on by Rally Preparation Services of Witney with the expert assistance of Ohio’s Snyders Antique Auto Parts, the world’s leading Ford Model A and T parts supplier.

While Mike’s car is ready for at least another century’s worth of steady and sedate motoring, car designer Ant favours slightly more in the way of performance in a new coupe that captures the ethos of Graham Hill moustaches and smart blazers.

“The GT’s look blends an Aston front, a Ferrari rear and a Lotus middle,” explains Ant. “The chassis and the ultra-elegant coachwork are custom-made but under the bonnet, it has a fully electric motor!”

This bespoke grand tourer is the creation of the Hertfordshire based company Dowsett Classic Cars, which was founded by Ant, and combines the ethos of the finest coupes of the 1950s and 1960s, with modern engineering.

Both cars can be seen on the Discovery Live Stage, with both cars driven onto the stage along with cars from both of the hosts’ TV careers. Mike and Ant will also welcome special guests including fellow petrolheads Drew Pritchard, Jimmy De Ville and car designer Frank Stephenson.

The new series of Wheeler Dealers will air on the Discovery Channel from 1st January 2018.

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, returns to Birmingham’s NEC from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 November. For more information as well as all the ticket prices and booking details, visit www.necclassicmotorshow.com.
