To celebrate 35 years since John Hennessey founded the Texas performance house in 1991, Hennessey has unveiled a highly exclusive version of one of America’s most enduring performance icons: the Ford Mustang. The result is the 2026 Hennessey Super Venom Mustang, an ultra-limited run of just 35 serial-numbered cars, each delivering 850 horsepower and a healthy dose of the company’s long-standing philosophy that excess, when properly engineered, can be a virtue.

At a glance, the Super Venom looks like a modern Mustang turned up to full volume, but the deeper story is what makes this anniversary car matter. Hennessey did not choose an obscure platform or create a commemorative badge package and call it done. Instead, it returned to one of the nameplates most closely associated with American performance culture and transformed it into a celebration of the company’s own history.

The formula is suitably direct. Hennessey takes Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 and raises output by 70 percent, lifting it from 500 hp to 850 hp, while torque climbs by 55 percent to 650 lb-ft at 4,900 rpm. Those gains come through the company’s established Super Venom hardware package, including a high-flow induction system, upgraded fueling, a high-performance supercharger system, and Hennessey engine management calibration.

A Mustang Built to Carry the Moment

What separates this 35th Anniversary edition from the broader Super Venom story is the way Hennessey has tied it to the company’s origin. Each of the 35 cars wears unique “35” anniversary badging and a stylized “91” hood graphic, a reference to the year it all began. Those details matter because they give the car a sense of authorship. This is not simply another high-output Mustang. It is a marker in the timeline of a company that has spent three and a half decades reshaping the edges of American performance.

The visual aggression is backed by a bespoke VenomAero carbon-fiber performance kit, designed to improve cooling, grip, and composure when the car is driven hard. On official Hennessey Super Venom builds, that package includes components such as a more assertive front splitter, hood venting, side skirts, fender louvers, rear deck treatment, and rear wing elements depending on configuration.

The effect is purposeful rather than ornamental. The Super Venom does not hide its intent. It wears its performance openly, with the kind of stance and surface treatment that tells you this is a machine engineered to do more than pose under bright lights.

More Than an Anniversary Car

The press release makes clear that the Mustang is only one chapter in a much broader Hennessey narrative. Founded by John Hennessey in 1991, the company says it has now re-engineered more than 18,000 vehicles for customers worldwide. Over the years, that reach has extended from muscle cars into trucks, SUVs, and ultimately hypercars, while competition and high-speed testing at venues such as Pikes Peak, Bonneville, and the Silver State Classic helped build its reputation early on.

That growth is part of what gives the 35th Anniversary Super Venom its weight. Hennessey is no longer simply the tuner that shocked people with headline numbers. It has evolved into a more layered operation spanning Hennessey Performance and Hennessey Special Vehicles, with the Venom F5 serving as the company’s global statement piece and a signal that America can still produce an authentic world-stage hypercar.

The company also says its Sealy, Texas campus is expanding to more than 100,000 square feet, with composite manufacturing and vehicle painting being brought in-house as production capacity grows. That sort of investment suggests the anniversary messaging is not backward-looking nostalgia. It is being used to frame the next stage of the company’s development.

The Meaning of the Super Venom

There is something fitting about Hennessey using a Mustang to celebrate itself. The car has always occupied a uniquely American space, accessible enough to be familiar, charismatic enough to be iconic, and endlessly receptive to reinvention. For a company built on the belief that factory performance is often only the beginning, the Mustang remains one of the purest canvases.

In this form, the Super Venom becomes more than a modified pony car. It becomes a symbol of continuity. A company born from a racer’s instinct to go faster now has OEM relationships, dealer recognition, a large technical workforce, a hypercar program, and enough confidence in its identity to compress all of that history into 35 limited-edition machines.

For enthusiasts, that may be the most compelling part of the story. The numbers are big, as they should be. The production run is tiny, as anniversary specials often are. But the real appeal is that the car feels aligned with the brand that created it. Loud, unapologetic, engineered with conviction, and distinctly American, the 850 hp Super Venom Mustang reads like Hennessey distilled into one very serious commemorative machine.
