Porsche Taycan Turbo S versus McLaren Senna Data for 1/4 mile and 0-62mph (0-100km/h), 3x races EV vs hypercar, similar on paper at the drag strip, but who wins?!

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has arrived as my first EV and despite its weight managed a ludicrously fast acceleration from the line thanks to instant torque and 4wd. To see really how fast it is, let’s put it up against the ultimate Shmeemobile, my McLaren Senna with 800hp and a weight almost 1,000kg less than the Taycan.

On paper the official figures are closer than you might think with both cars claiming a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of just 2.8 seconds, but the Porsche taking 9.6s to 124mph (200km/h) hence a 1/4 mile of 10.5s vs the Senna taking a mere 6.9s to 124mphh (200km/h) and therefore getting to the 1/4 mile in only 10.1s. However, with temperatures below 5C and a slightly damp runway, whether the Senna will get the traction is certainly to have an influence.

Thanks to Vbox, we are running the new Performance Box Touch to get some numbers, giving us best figures from the day of:

Porsche Taycan Turbo S:
0-100km/h (62mph):
2.77s 1/4 mile (402m): 10.88s

McLaren Senna:
0-100km/h (62mph):
2.77s 1/4 mile (402m): 10.26s

The results are fascinating, with both cars taking exactly the same time to reach the 100km/h (62mph) mark but with the Senna then breezing through and getting to the 1/4 mile substantially quicker, overtaking the Taycan at quite the pace before the line. For the Senna to beat it’s claimed 0-100km/h speed considering the conditions is quite impressive, and to be within 0.16s of the 1/4 mile time equally so considering we are running in full road spec. The Taycan also managed to beat it’s claimed 0-100km/h but by nowhere nearly as much as we’ve seen from others attempting the same which does leave some open questions, but manages to make up a lot of ground in the run to the 1/4 mile as well.
