Sold new to Ted Field’s Interscope team, chassis 930 890 0019 made its competition debut at the 1978 24 Hours of Daytona, the only race that it would wear the single #0. For the car’s first race Ted Field was joined by Danny Ongais and Milt Minter to pilot the Porsche Group 5 car. Delivered as a single turbo car, it was quickly converted to twin-turbo as many of the other 935s did back in period. The 935 would then be raced through the 1978 and 1979 IMSA seasons, taking 2nd place at the Daytona Finale in 1978.
Jean-Marc Luco, a Swiss historic racer and promiment Porsche collector, would race the car in the Le Mans Classic and other European races multiple times. (The FIA required a steel roll cage to be added to the car in place of its original aluminum structure.) In 2014, the Porsche traveled back from Europe to California to its most recent owner. During his ownership, the car would undergo an exterior restoration. The owner would race the car in the 2014 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and the 2015 Rennsport 5 events and numerous other vintage racing events.
This 935 is an example of the designs from Porsche that was one of the greatest racecars of all time…and now you can own and drive it.
