Originally designed for military use, the AM General Humvee was released to the civilian market due to popular demand as the “H1”. Boasting 16 inches of ground clearance as well as super-aggressive approach and departure angles (72/37.5 degrees), the H1 could climb a 22-inch high obstacle, handle a 60 percent grade, and wade through up to 30 inches of water.

For the 2006 model year GM released the upgraded H1 “Alpha”, equipped with GM’s 6.6-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel V8 and 5-speed Allison 1000 transmission. Horsepower was up 46 percent over previous H1s, and peak torque was a massive 520 lb-ft at 1500 rpm, an increase of 18 percent over the standard H1. Other major modifications from previous H1s included the use of special high-strength steel in the chassis frame, a more powerful steering gear, quieter axle differentials, redesign of the geared hubs to use quieter helical gears, new induction, exhaust, and electrical power systems, and re-engineering of the fuel supply and filtration system. A revised fuel system also increases capacity of the Alpha H1’s two on-board tanks to 51.5 gallons, 9.5 gallons more than previous H1s. Brake rotors were also larger, going from 10.7 inches to 12 inches in diameter. To accommodate the new dimensions of the Duramax 6600 and Allison 1000, the body of the H1 Alpha is positioned 2 inches higher than the previous H1. This provides slightly more clearance for the body panels from the wheels and from potential obstacles on trails. The H1 Alpha was priced at $150,975.00.

Originally acquired from Hummer of Cincinnati, this H1 has been exceptionally well cared for, receiving vehicle inspections and Service since new, and currently showing 33,517 miles on its odometer (total mileage 81,646). Above and beyond the GM “Alpha” upgrades, the most recent owner strived to upgrade this H1 Alpha with the help of Predator, Inc., and Canepa. Treated to a full work up of Predator’s performance accessories, including exhaust, fuel-injection, intake hood scoop, ECU management system, Momo steering wheel, and GT / Cepek wheels with bead locks and Central Fire Inflation System tire pressure control, wrapped in Toyo Open country M/T tires. Additionally, the exterior received a Predator D-ring heavy duty brush guard, search and rescue roof rack, search and rescue ladder, heavy duty light bar, LED lighting package 12k lbs Warn winch, search and rescue console rack, and search and rescue interior racks. In excess of $30,000 in Predator upgrades were installed.

Earlier this year, Canepa was commissioned to upgraded the interior, and restored it to like new condition, adding a full length Alcantara head liner, Leather seating, and custom rubber floor mats. With an additional $60,000 invested in 2021, this unique build is truly one of a kind.
